Controversial Sainsbury's site, Honor Oak Park Cllr Pauline Morrison formally launched the new Crofton Park Neighbourhood Forum at the Crofton Park Ward Assembly meeting on Saturday 26 January in Crofton Park Community Library. The new Forum will work as a vehicle to progress community cohesion in the Crofton Park and Honor Oak area. Over the next few months the Forum will work to the following timetable: • Establish the management structure, with the coordinating committee acting as the Board; • Draft terms of reference; • Formally constitute as a Neighborhood Forum; • Encourage all local residents and groups to join; • Start to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for Crofton Park Ward; and • Formally register as the Neighborhood Forum for Crofton Park. This will give us a louder voice for our area – the Council would need to consult with us on plans and other organisations such as Forest Hill Society and Sydenham Society would be unable to register their own plans in our Ward area. Last week's extremely well attended Crofton Park Assembly meeting was chaired by Cllr Morrison. It was the meeting to agree the allocation of funding to community groups. Fortunately all applications came to less than the budget provided so no ranking of applications was necessary, simply a vote by a show of hands for each application.
A small surplus was added to the amount awarded to a proposal to plant more trees in Crofton Park Ward. The Assembly also agreed to the proposal to establish a Neighbourhood Forum in Crofton Park and awarded £1,000 for publicity and organising meetings. Work to develop the Forum's working groups will take place in the New Year. |
